Over the years we have all loved love stories that come with a twist. Whether the story is portrayed to us in the form of a movie, a drama or an opera performance, a love story that has to go through the demons of the mean world is going to strike a chord with the hearts of the audience. An inseparable love, the world trying to separate the love birds and the couple finally uniting in the end despite all the odds, all these combined together make a story that can never get old in centuries.
On account of a high ticket demand of Giuseppe La Traviata, LA Opera realised the necessity of a seventh performance for the opening production of 2014/2015. This performance was scheduled to take place on Septembe19 which was a Friday around 8 pm.
In the colourful world of the early Twenties, a young man is swept off his feet by a gorgeous party girl. Together they make their love blossom far from the hustle and bustle of the city. But life takes another turn when an unexpected entity tries to separate them. A really interesting plot that has all the ingredients to keep the audience on the edge, isn’t it? It has all in it to remain etched in the hearts of the audience forever. We never really know when we become a part of the family of the characters and start feeling strongly about the male and female protagonists. No wonder LA Opera had to make a new addition of Giuseppe La Traviata.
One of the most popular romances of the Opera retuned on September 19 and the leading stars were the famous Nino Machaidze as Violetta and Arutro Chacon-Cruz as Alfredo. The role of the determined father was played by Placido Domingo. Music director James Conlon conducted the production.
The starting price of the ticket was 19 dollars and it could be purchased from Box Office of LA Opera at Dorothy Chandler Pavillion or it could have been booked over the phone or even purchased online. The Milan Panic Family and the Barbara Augusta Teichert made production possible by giving out generous gifts. It is worthy to mention that there had been a special underwriting support from Joyce and Aubrey Chernick. This had gone a long way in making this production of LA Opera so popular in 2014.
The La Traviata opened on 13th September 2014 and it stretched till 28th September where there had been a total of seven performances. Marta Domingo who was the director of La Taviata was also seen designing the costumes and scenery for the production with sheer perfection and professionalism. Domingo received full support from the rest of the team that comprised of the lighting designer Alan Burrett, the choreographer Kitty McNamee, the chorus director Grant Gershon among the others.
With all the seven performances receiving such a great audience response and becoming so popular, all eyes will be eagerly waiting for the upcoming seasons of LA Opera. To read more, you can visit their official website.
