Your 24-Hour Guide To Digha

Digha is a beautiful place in West Bengal which is often underrated when it comes to tourism in West Bengal. This place is a 4-5-hour bus journey from Kolkata and there is a frequent bus service from Kolkata. If you prefer to drive, then the roads are excellent and one can reach Digha in about 4 hours from Kolkata. You can use the rickshaw vans to travel in Digha which will take you around for cheap.  Digha has good accommodations, but you can book hotels in Digha online and save a lot of time and have a hassle-free experience. There is not much information out there about DIgha. So here is a 24-hour itinerary for DIgha which will make sure that you make the most of your experience here.

  1. Digha beach

Start your day by walking on the main boardwalk of the Digha sea face. Enjoy the sea breeze on the coast of this man-made beach which is also ideal for an early morning dip. The beautiful and flat beach is clean and soft. You can hire a chair for a nominal amount and watch the sun rise while enjoying the tranquil atmosphere. You can have your breakfast at one of the joints on the beach which serve lip-smacking sea-food and you can pair it up with a bottle of beer as well. You can also play volleyball on the beach or just take a quiet walk with your partner while soaking in the golden rays of the sun

  1. Marine station

After a quaint time at the beach, you can head to the MARC, which is the Marine Aquarium cum Regional Centre. This major attraction has the largest inbuilt aquarium in India. The creatures in this aquarium are of three kinds : species of conservative importance, ‘local and curious’ species and freshwater species. Soak into the rich diversity of organisms in this place before heading out for the next thing on our itinerary list. You can see all kinds of creatures, from lobsters to sharks and from rays to sea anemones. You can also see butterfly fishes, sea snakes and horse shoe crab in this aquarium. You will be able to spot many uncommon organisms as well.

  1. Chandaneswar temple

After the biological tour, you can have delicious lunch at one of the local restaurants which will provide you with their local delicacies. After eating, it is time to move to our next spot to get some religious blessings in our hand. The Chandaneswar Shiv temple has a rich mythological history. This temple hosts an annual fair on the first day of Oriya calendar which is a huge event and lots of tourist visit the temple on that day.   1. Udaipur beach

The next on the list is this pristine beach which is located on the border of Orissa and is 3 kms away from the DIgha station. This lonely beach is far away from the hustle bustle of the city and has towering casuarina trees which dominate the entire landscape. This beach is famous for its picturesque views. In the evening you can just lie down and rest on the beach, or if your adrenaline is pumping, you can choose to take a dip in the sea or enjoy a variety of adventure sports like Speed boat and Banana boat. You can also ride bikes on the beach or just cycle quietly and enjoy the heavenly sea breeze. If you get hungry you can always visit the food stall and have fish curry and some prawns.

Digha being an underrated place is a must visit at least once in your life to get a taste of what unpolluted beach looks like. SO, instead of heading to Goa for your romantic getaway, plan for Digha and it will give you the experience of relaxing on your private beach.
