How to Track and Manage Tasks You Assign to Employees

December 24, 2014 by Amy L Leave a Comment

One of the hardest things to do is to delegate tasks – your line of thinking is always that you can do it better. However, one of the most important parts of becoming an efficient and responsible business owner is to let your employees complete various tasks. When it comes down to it, this is why you hire employees – your business has gotten to the point where you need to delegate in order to survive. When you do hand tasks to your workforce, though, it can be difficult to know if projects are getting done on time and it can be difficult to know if a certain task has been delegated. Here is how to track and manage tasks you assign employees.

  1. Create a list of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. When it comes down to it, there is a good chance that you have daily, weekly and monthly tasks that need to get done. Before you assign tasks, you need to put a priority note on various tasks. Do they need to get done within a day? Do they need to get done in a week? Creating this list will be imperative.
  2. Make sure that there is a task protocol. On top of making a list, you also want to create a protocol for completing tasks. Implementing some structure into both the task assignment process and the completion process will be really important. If your task management system is to simply send out emails or hope that an employee gets something done, you can bet that tasks won’t get done. Moreover, it will be incredibly difficult to manage tasks this way.
  3. Use a task management platform. One great way to manage tasks is to use a task management platform, like TaskMaster Pro. These platforms will allow you the ability to organize assignments and monitor the assignments that you get sent out. It is a totally comprehensive platform that will streamline your entire task management process. If you are having trouble making sure tasks get completed on time, a task management platform will make sure that you have the necessary resources to ensure that employees do get tasks done on time.
  4. Create a penalty system for tasks that don’t get completed. When you find out that tasks aren’t being completed, you want to start a penalty system. This is a great way to dissuade your employees from being late on important tasks that are a priority for your business. When it comes down to it, penalties can include lower performance ratings that can affect future promotions and withholding performance bonuses.
  5. Offer incentives and bonuses to employees that get tasks done. Of course, you also want to offer some amazing incentives and bonuses for employees that do get projects done on time. You can offer benefits, bonuses, and perks for completing other assignments and tasks. When it comes to properly managing tasks and assignments, this is one of the best ways to ensure that tasks get completed in a timely and efficient manner.
