If you’re studying in Sheffield it’s time to breathe a sigh of relief because the beast from the East has finally be vanquished. It might not all be plain sailing, but we can finally start to look forward to Summer!
Students probably get the best deal from the sunshine: they have the time really enjoy it, as children do. It’s easy to find time in a student’s schedule to fill with some relaxing in the summer sun, which the fully employed find it difficult. Students can be out in the park with a BBQ while other adults are chained to office desk.
Students also have the advantage of adult resources to make the most of the summer sunshine! School children might have the long holidays to enjoy the weather, but they don’t have the freedom to simply decide to go to the beach, as you can do if you’re tired of labouring in the library.
Today we’re presenting a guide to making the most of the summer for Sheffield Students.
Find Your Green Space
You need to make sure you know where your summer retreat is going to be: where is the grass you are going to lie on and tan, and where are the trees you will sit under and read?
You need to find a park that’s equally convenient for all your friends – you should be able to decide to go and sprawl on the grass in a split second, and have everyone converge in ten minutes. If you’re asking friends to schlep across town for forty five minutes your plans will fall apart.
Check what’s allowed in each park. If you’re a student in Sheffield, Hallam Accommodation is close to several parks, but if you’re planning BBQs or football you should double check they’re allowed before you commit or you could find yourself having to clear off before you’d planned to!
Stock Up
Don’t rely on going to the shops for BBQ supplies immediately before you want to start cooking: their stocks deplete quickly as soon as the sun peeps out from behind the clouds. Stock up on a couple of disposable BBQs and a sack of charcoal at the very beginning of the summer and store them somewhere safe and watertight – a cupboard under the stairs or a solid shed.
That means that when others are staring blankly at empty shelves, you’ll already be out there with some burgers on the go!
